SUSTENANCE, site-specific installation

Site-specific installations by 24 artists -including video + sculpture + performances + sound installations, will occupy a vacant two-story building in West Dallas during the exhibition Sustenance, curated and organized by Stephen Lapthisophon and Anne Lawrence, opening Saturday, September 11, 2010, 11am-10pm.

Participating artists include: Kimberly Aubuchon, Frances Bagley, Jesse Barnett, Iris Bechtol, Shannon Brunskill (with Courtney Brown), Brian Fridge, Justin Ginsberg, Linnea Glatt and Jim Cinquemani, Matt Hanner, Chris Hefner, Kate Helmes, Sedrick Huckaby, Devin King, Darryl Lauster, Lou Mallozzi, Kristin Mariani, Michael Mazurek, Patrick Murphy, Tom Orr, Ludwig Schwarz, Lizzy Wetzel, and Jeff Zilm.

People are talking about the futuristic renderings now on exhibit in POST-NOW. Anna Krachey, Buster Graybill, and Jesse Morgan Barnett's photographs, sculpture and videos illustrate their version of the quesion:

How would the world appear in the absence of humans?

If Buster Graybill's black and white stills and video depict wildlife in the form of feral pigs and long-horned rams, then Jesse Morgan Barnett's and Anna Krachey's pictures show traces of the destructive wild life of people.

With the theoretically suggestive title of "Post-Now," this is a tight exhibition that brings home what it promises in a small dose.
