MARK FLOOD in ATHENS

MARK FLOOD
Very Dry, 2008 (detail)
collage - paper on coroplast mounted on plywood
(dimensions vary with wood backing installation)

Mark Flood exhibition now on view @ Peres Projects, REMAP KM, Athens, Greece.

From the press release for the exhibition:
In "Additional Paintings" the two-person show with Mark Flood and John Kleckner, never has defacement been so unabashedly stabby and consumer-culture critical as with Houston-based artist Mark Flood, nor as minutely crafted as with the Berlin-based American artist John Kleckner. Mischief-maker, identities specialist and sub-lingual alchemist Mark Flood layers various media and signs to render their meaning highly problematic, often ascorbic, sometimes bitingly astute; street signs are literally defaced with phrases, often consciously misspelled, that speak to the deepest subconscious desires of humans and consumers; celebrity posters mangled to leave little recognizable in these public icons.

"Additional Paintings" opens Tuesday, June 16, 5:30-9:30pm, and runs through July 27, 2009. REMAP KM - www.remapkm.org - Leonidou 15, Keramikos, Athens, Greece.

In addition Marty Walker Gallery is fortunate enough to have a few available lace paintings by Mark Flood, for further information or to schedule an appointment to view the work, please contact us. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday 11-5pm.
